Pink Saturday

Hello. Here is a picture of my daughter's bedroom including a quilt made by my mother a few years ago. She has macular degeneration and can sew no longer but she was a very good seamstress. My parents were married 13 years before they had me and three years later, my sister. We were "very wanted" little girls. My mother made us matching outfits for years and we felt privileged to have homemade clothes. She enjoyed all sewing crafts. You can click on the bedroom picture below and go to an album. Click on "Slideshow" and there are a few more pictures. Included are pictures of this quilt, some chair pads she crocheted, and a small embroidered pin cushion/decoration. Right before she became legally blind, she was making lots of these little pillows/pincushions for everyone at church and friends. They were easy because they were so small. Enjoy your Saturday.

Beautiful quilt -- I just love a quilt with sentimentality sewn in along with all that hand-crafted beauty.

I had much catching up to do around your place. Lovely reads. Thank you for sharing from the heart. My family's needs and the call from the gardens has been too strong to resist of late . . . thus, blogging has suffered (as it should according to my priority list).

I have so enjoyed coming to sit-and-chat on this quiet Saturday morning. : D

Hi Jennifer!
What lovely quilt. I used to have quilts but I have no idea what became of them.

My mother used to sew our clothes too. Believe it or not...my sister Cyndi and I loved for our mother to make us dresses from the 1950's dress patterns. I guess that's what started my love of collecting vintage patterns! Anyhoo, there we were, wearing our beautiful dresses with petticoats while everyone else was dressed in Mod style...my mother always ended up sewing dresses for our friends because the wanted a dress like ours!

Have a great Pink Saturday!

We have quite a bit in common. My Mom was also a quilter and the last 11 years of her life she had macular degeneration. So she couldn't quilt. But she was so amazing. Most people could not even tell she was legally blind.

That quilt is beautiful!
